Whose contracts are Bayern Munich looking to renew?

Bayern Munich face a busy start to 2026 with no fewer than seven players on expiring contracts.

Kicker report that talks are scheduled in January with representatives of Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka. Both are enjoying an uptick in form, the former filling a Jamal Musiala-shaped hole behind Harry Kane, netting four goals and providing three assists in nine Bundesliga games.

The duo could also imagine staying in Bavaria, but Bayern are biding their time before making a final decision on extending their contracts beyond 2026.

Talks between Dayot Upamecano and club bosses are also ongoing, but the Frenchman’s contract extension is proving the most difficult. Kicker understand that the defender feels comfortable and can imagine staying at Bayern – and that an extension will come down to the player’s salary and signing bonus. But with January approaching, France’s Upamecano can soon negotiate with other clubs.

One option presented is a four-year extension that would include a release clause after two seasons, which would be reduced after a third season.

Kicker note that Raphael Guerreiro is ‘far down’ Bayern’s priority list while it’s unlikely that Germany’s record champions will exercise their €65m purchase option on Nicolas Jackson, although they could open negotiations with Chelsea to reduce the player’s price.

As for Manuel Neuer, they could tie the 39-year-old down to a new one-year deal, while Sven Ulreich will likely call time on his playing career.
