The reports from a couple of days ago that Chelsea were offering 5 players to West Ham as potential makeweights in a deal for Mohammed Kudus was a good reminder of those first team squad members currently considered potentially expendable.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Robert Sanchez, Carney Chukwuemeka, Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah were all listed, and that just scratches the surface really. There are Raheem Sterlings, Joao Felixes, Renato Veigas, Benoit Badiashiles, Axel Diasis… there are so many players who could go.
Matt Law focused on one of these players earlier today in his piece for the when he noted that Napoli were in the mix for Trevoh Chalobah.
The defender came back and played well for Chelsea in the second half of the season, but the Blues still seem to have no interest in keeping him. As with many of the names above, it seems they’re willing to listen to consider any offer which approaches their asking price.
Listed at €25m by TransferMarkt, we reckon Chelsea would accept €30m plus some bonuses for their academy defender.
Chelsea players have made quite the pathway to Serie A in recent years, and while this is very much in the early stages, it strikes us as one which makes sense on a surface level. Coincidentally, Trevoh’s older brother Nat played on loan in Naples many years ago and loved it, by all accounts, so there’s already a family connection to some degree.
As a youngster, Chalobah played on loan at Lorient, so he’s clearly not afraid of a move abroad either.
If Trevoh is going to leave, we can’t think of many things we’d like more than him teaming up with Billy Gilmour and Antonio Conte in Naples.
