It’s been an excruciating long international break of almost 3 weeks between Chelsea games.

But coming off the back of a feeble 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, the Blues have a huge game against another rival team from North London.

The Blues have Tottenham coming to town in a game which is not only a massive 3 points, but will also set the tone for the rest of this run in. Manchester City and Newcastle are breathing down their necks now in the race for the top 5, and if Enzo Maresca’s team fail to win tomorrow night, they could be overhauled by one, or both of them.

In his press conference today, Maresca was asked about what he made about Spurs season so far, which has seen them tumble all the way to 14th as they struggle with injuries:

“I think for part of the season they had many injuries also, so it’s not easy to deal with that. As I said, important players out, so it’s not easy to deal with that. Then for more things, I don’t know, you have to be inside, you have to live the moment, you have to live in the changing room in the games. So I’m not able to give you more reasons, for sure the injuries that they had has been an important part,” Maresca said.

Asked how important the game tomorrow was, Maresca didn’t hold back on admitting it was massive for the momentum it would generate.

“From that win probably you can build momentum until the end, but from now on they are all important games and they are all with three points, so we need to win as much as we can in terms of numbers of games and then we’ll see where we finish.”
