The latest word stemming from the Spanish media on Friday will likely be met with a smile on the part of incoming Real Madrid signing Trent Alexander-Arnold.
This comes amid confirmation of the system set to be made use of by new Blancos manager Xabi Alonso.
Spanish tactician Alonso is of course all set to take up the reins at the Santiago Bernabéu this summer, having on Friday, at long last, announced his imminent departure from Bayer Leverkusen.
An insight, in turn, has already been provided into how the former midfielder intends to set his Real side up next season.
According to Marca, Alonso intends to make use of a 3-4-3 system. This setup will feature a pair of heavily attack-minded wing-backs, tasked with replicating the production of Leverkusen pair Jeremie Frimpong, and Álex Grimaldo.
And as much will no doubt come as music to the ears of the aforementioned Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Right-back Alexander-Arnold is of course also primed to take his talents to Spain’s capital this summer, upon the expiration of his contract with Premier League champions Liverpool.
The England international’s arrival has been met with trepidation on the part of some, owing chiefly to Alexander-Arnold’s long-standing shortcomings on the defensive front.
Alonso’s system, though, should help to mask the 26-year-old’s issues when out of possession, with cover in behind through a trio of central defenders.
Not only that, but with free reign going forward, Alexander-Arnold will be able to make full use of his standout qualities, which come chiefly in the final third.
