Wolves full back David Moller Wolfe endured a painful cameo for Norway, withdrawn 12 minutes after coming on against Switzerland due to a cut under his eye that needed four stitches.

He was among the Wolves players away on international duty, starting the 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands before beginning on the bench for Tuesday night’s meeting with Switzerland.

Introduced in the 63rd minute for Man City striker Erling Haaland, he was replaced 12 minutes later by former Albion defender Torbjorn Heggem.

The change followed an elbow under his eye that left him in visible pain and bleeding. Team-mates surrounded him, and Benfica forward Andreas Schjelderup quickly signalled to the bench for treatment.

“My teammates who came over reacted, and that’s when I panicked, I won’t lie about that. Schjelderup came over to me and shouted ‘Ola’, (the team doctor) and that’s when I panicked.” he told a Norwegian newspaper.
