Richard Hughes and Liverpool’s recruitment team are faced with the impossible task of trying to replace Mohamed Salah this summer.
The Egyptian King will be leaving Anfield after almost a decade of dominating the Premier League.
After delivering one of the best individual seasons English football has ever seen last season, Salah has experienced some drop off this campaign and has even spent time sat on the bench.
Regardless of any drop off, Liverpool will need to replace Salah but things might not be so simple.
With a number of moving pieces at play, the Reds best bet may in fact be waiting 12 months to bring in a replacement for the Anfield talisman.
Two of the most exciting names touted as potential successors to Salah have been Yan Diomade and Michael Olise.
Both players are likely to cost a significant amount, but the pair represent very different propositions for Liverpool.
Diomande is one of the most exciting prospects in world football, but is by no means the finished product, where as Olise is one of the best players in Europe and has shown has much with his 52 G/A in 50 appearances this season.
It would be tough to chose between the pair, but a new report from TEAMtalk has shed some light onto how Diomande could be the key to Liverpool securing Olise.
The report states that Diomande could spend one more season with RB Leipzig before moving on, and that Bayern would be keen on a move for the youngster in the summer of 2027 as they feel that Olise may move on from Munich after next season.
Several reports have claimed that Bayern will not consider the sale of Olise for any price this summer, so waiting a year may be the Reds' only chance of signing the Frenchman.
By passing on Diomande this summer, Liverpool could be giving themselves an excellent chance of securing one of the world’s best – Olise – in the summer of ‘27.
Things obviously move fast in football, so this could be a risky strategy, but it may be worth waiting 12 months to replace Salah rather than rushing into a move that isn’t right.
The possibility of securing Olise next summer will certainly give Hughes and Co a lot to think about before this summer’s window opens.
