It’s now been three days since the home defeat to Hearts, and our new manager is still continuing to face a barrage of criticism from the Celtic’s chums in the mainstream media and what seems like every single footballing figure in the country.
It’s quite frankly getting out of hand. The sort of drivel that’s been wrote and said about the Frenchman, after a solitary game in charge is nothing short of disgraceful. Just yesterday for example he was slaughtered for the colour of his footwear! Is the mainstream media now adopting a fashion policy on coaches? Maybe green just isn’t their favourite colour.

Yes Wilfried failed to win on his first game in charge, and deserves to be scrutinised to an extent, but nothing like the ludicrous attacks that are currently being aimed in his direction. The day Ange was introduced he was told by The Celtic Star that his friends were here in the fan media conference not in the next room where he had just met the mainstream media – and at that very moment the broadcasters were actually laying into the Australian.
Ange took that on board and was always engaging and positive when answering fan media questions during his two seasons at Celtic.

Now the very people who are supporting Wilfried Nancy are the Celtic fan media who to club banned an hour before his first media conference last Friday.
Yes, we have issues with the club but none with the manager. If the fan media relationship is over then the club will lose much more than we will – it’s business as usual at all the sites, podcasts and media channels. The only thing that The Celtic Star asked them for was a photo pass for Celtic Park – which we can get at all other grounds in the league including Ibrox – but not incredibly not Celtic Park.

Contrast the treatment Wilfried Nancy is getting to the lavish praise that’s directed towards Danny Rohl over at Ibrox, even after a less than impressive start that sees his side occupy fourth spot, whilst exiting the Premier Sports Cup to Celtic and faltering badly at the bottom of the Europa League table with just one single point.
The SMSM is currently revelling in Wilfried’s bumpy start, meaning it’s even more vital that we get behind him, it’s what he deserves after all. His tactical approach is radically different to what the players are used to and having been brave enough to believe in himself from the first game, we may suffer initially. However once the players understand what he wants and with additions coming in next month when the window opens, it’s very likely that Wilfried will have the last laugh come May.
As Celtic managers usually do.
