According to ExpressAndStar.com, Tottenham prospect Will Lankshear is in advanced talks over a permanent move to Middlesbrough. Talks are progressing, with a fee unconfirmed and personal terms still to be agreed.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Albion in the Championship, failing to score in 11 outings. Only four of those appearances were starts.

His stock rose with Oxford United, where he struck 12 goals in all competitions, 11 in the league, despite the U’s relegation. He also scored in a 2-1 win over Albion in February, James Morrison’s first match as caretaker.

Beaten play-off finalists Boro, under Kim Hellberg, enquired about his availability in January, but he chose to stay at the Kassam Stadium. Southampton have been keen, with reported interest from Wolves and Sporting Lisbon.

Spurs have turned down more than one approach for Lankshear. He has made three substitute appearances for the club.

Middlesbrough are set to receive more than £20 million due to a 20 per cent sell-on clause in the deal that took former Albion academy prospect Morgan Rogers to Villa. Rogers is set for Chelsea for a British record £117m.
