Norwich City are still on the lookout for a new boss after parting ways with Liam Manning at the beginning of the international break.

The Canaries are hurtling towards relegation this season and are in desperate need of stability, sitting 23rd and winning just two matches in 15 outings.

Last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat against Leicester City meant the Canaries have now suffered seven defeats in their last eight Championship games, with a huge turnaround needed if they are to avoid plummeting into League One.

Meanwhile, Southampton continue to search for Will Still’s successor after parting ways with the 33-year-old at the beginning of November.

Since then, interim boss Tonda Eckert has taken over the reins and delivered back-to-back victories over QPR and Sheffield Wednesday, with many believing he would be given the job on a full-time basis.

Instead, Southampton are electing to keep the German on an interim basis for now, before making a call on whether they need to find a new man or not.

As Norwich’s hunt for a new manager continues, it has been revealed that the Norfolk outfit have held talks with Still over an immediate return to management in the Championship.

This was reported by the BBC, while The Telegraph’s John Percy has reported former Blackburn Rovers boss John Dahl Tomasson and ex-Wolves boss Gary O’Neil have both been interviewed by the club for the position.

With this news in mind, FLW’s Southampton fan pundit has revealed whether he thinks Norwich approaching Still is the right move for them, and whether he can drag them out of the relegation mire.

Will Still backed to be Norwich City success but question raised over his desire for the role

Speaking to Football League World, Southampton fan pundit Martin Sanders believes Will Still can be a success at a club that is in a positive place in all departments, but has questioned whether Norwich City will give him the tools given how turbulent they are both on and off the pitch.

Martin said: “He is going to go on and do very well somewhere. From what I see, he’s a good guy. It’s just timing in football, you need to be with the right owners and the right setup that compliments you as a person.

“Norwich are not looking in the greatest state at the moment, but it’s a great football club and if he goes in there and hits the ground running, then I think he could do great things.

“For me, he would be a really good appointment for them, but I don’t think he’d take it. I don’t see him jumping back into a club that looks like they’re going down. I don’t know why they are.

“Does he want to stay in England and have another pop at it? His next move is a big move really, because his stock has been damaged from his time at Southampton.”

Will Still should not let Southampton failure define him, but Norwich City move may not be the wisest decision

Despite it not working out for Will Still at Southampton, he’s only 33-years-old and will have a lot more opportunities to prove his worth as a coach.

The effect he can have was on display in France, and just because one spell didn’t go according to plan, it doesn’t mean he can’t bring success to another club in England.

As our Southampton fan pundit alluded to, Still will need a club to be in the right place and to give him the tools to do a brilliant job, and you could argue Southampton wasn’t the right side to inherit given they had such a miserable time in the Premier League the season prior and their confidence was shot to pieces.

At Norwich, it would seem an even worse move. Supporters are frustrated by some of the actions of the board, while the relationship between the players is far from its strongest given they are 23rd in the table and four points from safety.

It’s a really tough job to turn this side around for whoever walks into the building, and after damaging some of his reputation at Southampton, it could be a place that worsens it further given the club seems destined to drop into League One at this moment in time.

The role would suit a figure with a lot more experience managing at this level, and it would seem a bit rushed for Still to dive straight back into the second-tier instead of biding his time and waiting for a better opportunity.
