The transfer of Florian Wirtz to Bayern Munich seems to be edging closer to completion.
Following reports that the player and the club have reached an agreement on a long-term contract, Munich-based publication AZ now reports that Bayern have initiated talks with Bayer Leverkusen regarding the transfer.
Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport, remained tight-lipped during the title celebrations on Saturday, stating:
“I don’t want to answer that with a yes or no. Today is about celebrating the title.”
However, behind the scenes, preparations for the transfer are progressing, and Bayern are confident the deal will be completed soon, as reported by AZ
Wirtz is said to be committed to joining Bayern over other suitors, including Real Madrid and Manchester City. And with Leroy Sané out of contract and potentially on the move this summer, Bayern’s iconic No. 10 shirt could soon become available.
Wirtz is currently under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2027. If the transfer goes through, he is expected to earn between €20 and €25 million euros per year at Säbener Strasse
