Newcastle United wrapped up 2025 with a nervy 3-1 triumph over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Magpies couldn’t have started better: Joelinton leapt ahead of Hjalmar Ekdal to nod in Anthony Gordon’s deflected cross after just over a minute on the clock.

Shortly after, Yoane Wissa doubled the lead, tapping in from close range following a scramble in the Burnley box.

The hosts responded with spirit. Josh Laurent volleyed in at the back post after Armando Broja’s flick-on, sparking a flurry of chances that saw the hosts hit the crossbar and test Newcastle’s goalkeeper Nick Pope with a couple of smart stops.
