With few exceptions, Palmeiras youngsters see little action

Palmeiras’ squad will return next Sunday (21) after a vacation period due to the World Cup break. Verdão has seven players called up for the tournament.

For the season, the Alviverde football board backed the arrival of experienced players after Abel Ferreira pointed out a “lack of experience” in decisive moments in 2025.

Palmeiras academy graduates with low playing time

For the first part of the season, Palmeiras relied on eight young players developed in the club’s youth ranks. Allan, in his second year as a professional, is the player with the most minutes among the Academy graduates.

Second in the ranking is left-back Arthur. Because of injuries to Piquerez and Jefté, the No. 56 became the undisputed starter in the position over the last two months of matches before the World Cup break.

Experience in the squad

Among the players with the most appearances this season are Carlos Miguel, Marlon Freitas, and Gustavo Gómez. Palmeiras changed its squad-building profile and, despite having a low average age — one of the lowest in the Brazilian Championship — looked for experienced names in the market and kept the core of the group intact.
