FIFA has increased by 15% the total funding for the 48 federations at this summer’s World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. The governing body confirmed the move after a Council meeting on 28 April in Vancouver, a host city, and has been led by Gianni Infantino since 2016.

The overall pot now stands at 871 million dollars, about 744 million euros, up from the 727 million dollars announced in December.

Preparation payments rise from 1.5 to 2.5 million dollars, and participation fees from 9 to 10 million dollars. Support for delegations and ticket allocations will also increase.

The tournament runs from 11 June to 19 July, and will be the first World Cup with 48 teams, expanded from 32.

Projected four-year revenue for the current cycle, which concludes with the North American finals, is 13 billion dollars, a little over 11 billion euros.

Prize money had already been lifted by 50% compared with Qatar 2022. The champions in East Rutherford, near New York, will receive nearly 43 million euros.
