VfL Wolfsburg have signed Robert Glatzel from Hamburger SV as they build for the 2. Bundesliga after relegation. The move ends the striker's prolific stay in Hamburg.

According to BuLi News, the fee is around €1.5 million and Glatzel has agreed a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old departs HSV as the club's record scorer in the 2. Bundesliga era. He joined from Cardiff City in 2021 and amassed 84 goals and 22 assists in 150 competitive matches.

His goals underpinned Hamburg's long-awaited return to the Bundesliga and cemented his status as a fan favourite.

Wolfsburg are targeting an immediate promotion and have already added Fabian Reese and Hauke Wahl, players proven at this level.

Whether this is a clever strategy or a risky get-together of multiple stars remains to be seen.
