Rob Edwards’ side suffered relegation to the Championship, which has led to his dismissal as head coach.

Cesar Peixoto has been brought in by the Old Gold to oversee the start of the new campaign, making his first move into English football.

The 46-year-old has previously managed in Portugal with the likes of Gil Vicente, Moreirense and Pacos Ferreira.

It promises to be a busy summer ahead for the club, particularly as Peixoto will want to shape the first team squad to his liking with the help of the transfer market.

Wolves have already secured the signings of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, and that likely won’t be the end of the business between now and 1 September.

It has been claimed by former football scout Mick Brown that Wolves are one of the clubs interested in signing Pablo from Championship rivals West Ham.

He believes that the forward is an option for the Midlands outfit, and that Jorge Mendes could be key to securing a deal for the club this summer.

"West Ham are willing to let Pablo go this summer," said Brown, via Football Insider.

"The big question then is about which clubs might be interested, because he's not exactly pulled up trees at West Ham to make anybody sit up and take notice of him.

"Wolves are the ones who have been mentioned, and that will be largely because of the role of Jorge Mendes.

"He played a big role in Pablo joining West Ham in the first place, and we all know the relationship he has with Wolves, so he will have a lot to say about that move.

"It's a dangerous game for West Ham, getting involved with these agents, because in my experience they cause more trouble than they're worth.

"But it's clear he has a big role to play in Pablo's future, first moving him to West Ham, and now potentially to Wolves with West Ham looking to move him on."

West Ham signed Pablo from Gil Vicente last January in a deal worth £21.8 million, but he struggled for form under Nuno Espírito Santo.

The 22-year-old contributed just one assist from 14 appearances in the Premier League, starting on just 10 occasions.

However, he knows Peixoto well from their time together with Gil Vicente in Portugal, and perhaps he can help the player get back to his best.

The Brazilian registered 10 goals and one assists from 13 appearances in the first half of the Portuguese top flight campaign prior to his move to the London Stadium, which helped the team finish sixth in the table.

Pablo has a contract until June 2030, but it has been claimed that West Ham are willing to let the player go this summer after his disappointing performances in the Premier League.

It remains to be seen what kind of fee the Hammers will accept in order to offload the forward, but they will be keen to recoup as much of the almost £22 million paid to sign him just six months ago.

It has been reported that Jorge Mendes is set to take on a larger role in Wolves’ transfer plans following Peixoto’s appointment as head coach.

Pablo signing could be worrying for Wolves

The links to Pablo aren’t a surprise given his connection to both Peixoto and Mendes, but that should perhaps be the concern for Wolves.

Rebuilding their connection to the super-agent is not what the Old Gold should be doing for their transfer strategy, as it played a big part in leading them astray on their way to relegation.

The 22-year-old struggled in the Premier League, and West Ham looking to offload him again so quickly also offers a warning to Wolves.

While he could come good working with Peixoto again, and the Championship might suit him better than the Premier League, there are enough red flags in this deal to worry Wolves supporters.
