WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from Wolves earlier today.

Forward Francis also joins Wolves on a free transfer. She left former club Plymouth Argyle earlier this summer. The 20-year-old was a member of the side which battled bravely for the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division title last season. The Pilgrims eventually reached the play-off final, only to go down 1-0 to Wolves. Francis netted 10 goals across the campaign. The player is a Welsh international.

Commenting on Jones’ arrival, Wolves’ Head of Women and Girls, Russ Fraser said “Ellen is a versatile forward who is good with both feet and someone who we feel will be a very good fit for our squad ahead of our first WSL 2 season. Her experience in this division and above will be vital to us and we look forward to seeing her in Old Gold for the first time.”

Discussing the addition of Francis, Fraser added “Olivia is someone the club had been tracking for a while and following her performance in the play-off final against us for Plymouth was a player Macca [Dan McNamara] had identified as a target for us this summer. She is a pacy winger who we feel will play a key role in unlocking and stretching defences this season and will add an extra dimension to the style of football we are looking to display.”

Wolves have now signed 10 new players ahead of their debut season in Barclays WSL2.
