Wolves have signed experienced free agent Kieran Trippier on a two-year deal, with an option for a further year, after the 54-cap England international left Newcastle at the end of his contract.

Chairman Nathan Shi hailed Trippier’s quality and leadership, and said his Premier League, Champions League and international experience would be invaluable as Wolves tackle the Championship. He framed the signing as a marker of ambition and professionalism across the club.

He arrives after a four-year spell at Newcastle and his capture kickstarts an ambitious squad rebuild aimed at an immediate return to the Premier League.

The club are moving quickly to have players in place for pre-season, with faith placed in Rob Edwards to lead the push back to the top flight.

After extending Andre’s contract and adding Trippier, Wolves are also closing in on re-signing Raul Jimenez.

Trippier was targeted as the priority addition and completing the move early in the window allows detailed planning, with the defender set to join on the first day of pre-season.
