Wolves’ Strand Larsen refuses to force move after Newcastle’s £55m offer is rejected | OneFootball

Newcastle United have had a second bid for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen rejected.

They tabled an improved £55 million offer this week after an initial £50m bid was turned down.

Wolves maintain that the 25-year-old is not for sale this summer, with manager Vitor Pereira stressing the importance of the player to his plans.

Strand Larsen is interested in the prospect of joining Newcastle. However, will not push to leave out of respect for the club and has continued to feature for Wolves.

The striker scored twice in Tuesday’s League Cup win over West Ham, coming off the bench to secure a 3-2 victory.

He has already started both of Wolves’ opening Premier League matches after his loan from Celta Vigo was made permanent in July for around €27m.

Since arriving in England last season, Strand Larsen has scored 16 goals in 41 appearances and established himself as a reliable presence in attack.

Newcastle are searching for a replacement for Callum Wilson, who left the club earlier in the summer.

The club are also dealing with uncertainty around Alexander Isak, who has expressed a desire to leave after interest from Liverpool.

Newcastle’s pursuit comes after missing out on several attacking targets earlier in the transfer window, including Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

The Magpies face Leeds United on Saturday, while Wolves host Everton as they aim to claim their first league points of the season.

Strand Larsen remains a Wolves player, but his future could hinge on whether Newcastle decide to return with a significantly higher offer before the transfer deadline.
