Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on a deal for Familicao star Rodrigo Pinheiro, following the addition of fellow right-back Kieran Trippier
Wolverhampton Wanderers have plotted a move for Famalicao right-back Rodrigo Pinheiro amid their desire to clinch an immediate Premier League return.
The 23-year-old made 29 appearances in the Portuguese top flight last term, notching three goals and two assists in the process.
Wolves have already strengthened their right-back options this summer with the acquisition of Kieran Trippier, who joined on a free transfer after his Newcastle United contract expired.
The Molineux club have also made a major change by appointing former Gil Vicente and Moreirense boss Cesar Peixoto as their new head coach.

Peixoto doesn't have previous Championship experience to his name, unlike his predecessor, Rob Edwards, so Wolves will have to sign players who are familiar with the 46-year-old, who has only ever managed in Portugal.
Meanwhile, with Wanderers closing in on Pinheiro, Football League World asked our Wolves fan pundit, Thomas Woodhall, what his thoughts are on the move, and if his side need a new right-back.
Woodhall told FLW: "I'm not totally convinced a new right-back is the area we need to be focusing on. We've just brought Trippier in, and I think Pedro Lima has a high ceiling.
"I, like most Wolves fans, thought that it'd be Trippier with Pedro Lima kind of playing apprentice. Playing a bit part, but learning as he goes from someone like Trippier.
"Obviously, this guy, I've had a look. I can't say I'd ever heard of him before we were linked, but he seems to have had a good season. From a couple of the channels I watch, I keep up with football around the world.
"I watch a podcast, it's (about) the Portuguese league. They commented on him and the rumour, and they said he's a really good talent. I think being Portuguese and a player that's played in the same league as Peixoto is obviously beneficial.
"He's the new gaffer, he knows him, has played against him at the very least. If he's said yes to him, there must be something about him. This just tells me that maybe Trippier might move on to the left or play bit part alongside this guy.
"Pedro Lima maybe will go out on loan. I think there's other positions we need to be focusing on, but that doesn't mean this won't be a good signing.
"A lot of people are saying from that sort of area that he's a Rayan Ait-Nouri kind of wing-back, likes the ball at his feet, likes to attack. But also pretty good defensively.
"Talent is talent. It doesn't matter how much you've got of something, you always want the best players in your team. If this guy turns out to be, I'm sure everyone will be saying, 'I knew we should get him.'
"I don't think it's needed at this moment in time, but never say no."

Pinheiro's performances for Familicao in Portugal suggest that he could excel in the Championship if Wolves sign him and give him regular game time.
However, having dropped from the Premier League to the second tier, fellow right-back Trippier will want to earn as many minutes as possible in his primary position in the second tier.
As Woodhall alluded to, Trippier can also play at left-back, but Peixoto will have to smartly rotate between the England international and Pinheiro at right-back to keep them both happy throughout a vital campaign.
While right-back may not be Wolves' most obvious weakness, the Molineux outfit need strength in depth ahead of a testing 46-game league season.
