Wolves winger Rafiki Said sidelined for at least two months with MCL injury | OneFootball

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves winger Rafiki Said will miss at least two months after sustaining a high-grade MCL injury in pre-season.

The £7.7million signing arrived earlier this month. He was withdrawn after 20 minutes of his second friendly on the club’s Maidenhead trip.

Director of performance Phil Hayward said the shot was blocked, placing heavy strain on the inside of his knee, which caused the ligament damage. He will be in a brace for around six weeks and will have injections during that period to accelerate healing.

During the brace phase he will be limited functionally, focusing on gym work and strengthening around the knee. After the brace is removed, he will need a few more weeks to rebuild before returning to training.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde faces a number of weeks out after a hamstring injury in training at the weekend. He had only returned last week after representing Haiti in the World Cup.

Fer Lopez missed the Maidenhead and Real Sociedad friendlies with a minor groin issue but has trained this week and is available for the final two summer friendlies. Adam Armstrong should continue to be available after recovering from a calf knock.

Sam Johnstone has stepped up his recovery after shoulder surgery towards the end of last season.
