A one-time member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week aimed a less than subtle dig at the club’s inner workings.

The player in question? Claudio Bravo.

Shot-stopper Bravo for his part enjoyed a productive two-year stint on Barca’s books, between 2014 and 2016.

From here, the Chilean departed for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, with whom he was utilised in more of a backup role.

Still, though, Bravo appears to look back on his time at The Etihad altogether fondly…

Speaking in an interview with El Legado late this week, the 41-year-old, who finds himself without a club following the expiration of his terms with Real Betis, was drawn on his time on Barcelona’s books.

And Bravo, in his response, made use of the opportunity to both criticise the Blaugrana, and talk up Man City:

“I always say this: Barça works like a small team. It is gigantic on a global level, gigantic. Madrid and Barça must be the biggest in terms of media, popularity, the most well-known… Wherever you move in the world, stadiums are filled.

“Barça is gigantic, but internally it is very small, you always see the same faces, few people: players, staff, three or four security guards, the cook and little else.”

The veteran goalkeeper continued:

“On the other hand, you go to Manchester City and it is a gigantic club internally, gigantic. Its level of resources is unlimited: people in the pool, people in the locker room, people in the medical area, people in the gyms…

“They don’t skimp on resources or personnel so that the player develops in the best possible way and so that he doesn’t lack anything. You worry about playing, we have the best physio, the best gym fitness trainer, and not one but two or three. In the medical area there are twenty stretchers and not five. You have two or three doctors…”
