The 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada is closing in on the quarter-finals, with five nations already confirmed.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Morocco were first through after eliminating hosts Canada, then France, Norway, England and Spain joined them.

Spain edged Portugal 1-0 as Mikel Merino struck late to clinch a place in the last eight. Luis de la Fuente’s side, among the favourites, will face the United States or Belgium.

The round of 16 concludes with the United States against Belgium at 02:00 on Tuesday. Later on Tuesday, Argentina meet Egypt at 18:00, then Switzerland face Colombia at 22:00.

Quarter-final ties are set for Thursday at 22:00, France against Morocco, Friday at 21:00, Spain versus the United States or Belgium, and Saturday at 23:00, Norway against England. The remaining quarter-final is on Sunday at 03:00.

Semi-finals are scheduled for Tuesday at 21:00 and Wednesday at 21:00. The third-place match is on Saturday at 23:00, with the final on Sunday at 21:00.
