World Cup 2026: Netherlands win FIFA Fair Play award after just three bookings | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, the Netherlands were presented with FIFA's Fair Play prize on Sunday at the 2026 World Cup, an honour recognising sportsmanship on and off the pitch.

They were knocked out in the last 16 by Morocco after a 1-1 draw, losing 2-3 on penalties. The Dutch have not lost a World Cup match since 2010 but once more departed via a shootout this year.

Disciplinary criteria include yellow and red cards. The Netherlands collected no reds and only three yellows in four matches. Norway, with two more games, Senegal and Algeria posted the same tally.

Only Tunisia and Czechia, with one booking each, and Türkiye with two, recorded fewer cautions, though all three went out in the group stage.

It is the first time the Netherlands have taken the award, succeeding England’s 2022 triumph in Qatar. Brazil hold the record with four titles. The prize has been presented since 1970.
