World Cup 2026 qualifiers / France 2-0 Ukraine
Ousmane Dembélé has left the France national team camp after sustaining an injury against Ukraine on Friday, September 5, 2025. The PSG winger suffered a right thigh injury during Les Bleus' 2-0 victory in Wroclaw, Poland. He will not take part in the match against Iceland on Tuesday at Parc des Princes.
The French forward from Paris Saint-Germain had already arrived at Clairefontaine with muscle discomfort in his left thigh, which had kept him out of the first team training session. Didier Deschamps had opted to rest him at the start of the week, before bringing him on at halftime against Ukraine to replace Désiré Doué, who was also injured. Unfortunately, Dembélé quickly had to return to the bench. He exited in the 81st minute, clutching the back of his thigh.
Les Bleus' medical staff quickly assessed the situation and decided to release the player from the squad. An MRI scan is scheduled to determine the exact extent of his injury and how long he will be sidelined. Paris Saint-Germain expressed their discontent, stating they had warned the French staff about the risks of playing Dembélé before he had fully recovered from his previous injury.
