The Red Dragons are closing in on a deal for the full-back.
Wrexham are on the verge of agreeing a loan deal with Manchester City for full-back Issa Kabore.
Much of the Welsh side's business early in the window focused on the recruitment of Championship-experienced players; the same model they used to climb up to this point on the English footballing ladder. Latterly, though, Phil Parkinson's side have been after some extra youth to balance out the composition of his side.
With that in mind, Wrexham are not far off a deal that will see City youngster Kabore move to the north of Wales on a season-long loan deal, as per Ben Jacobs.
The 24-year-old Burkina Faso international has been with Pep Guardiola's side since the summer of 2020. Despite this, he has never made a first-team appearance for the club, with most of the time that he has spent on the club's books being occupied by temporary moves. Wrexham is set to be his next.
Two of their Championship rivals, Ipswich Town and Leicester City, were linked with Kabore by talkSPORT last week. Alongside European outfits like Hamburg and Paris FC, the pair of recently relegated Premier League sides are set to be beaten to Kabore by the newly promoted League One club, as per Jacobs.
For someone of his age, Kabore will bring a strong amount of experience to Parkinson's side. He has spent time with elite level clubs like Werder Bremen, Benfica, Luton Town (when they were in the top flight) and Marseille.
Ryan Longman has been used by the Wrexham boss as his right wing-back/right-sided midfielder in the last couple of matches. Kabore should be more naturally suited to this role than the former Hull City wide player.
This is yet another move by the Red Dragons which is a testament to their pulling power.
While this deal may be helped by the negotiating relationship that already exists between them and City - Kabore's former teammate, Callum Doyle, is Wrexham's latest signing to date - it's still pretty impressive that a side that was playing in the third tier can beat clubs who were playing in the most popular division in world football in the previous term to a signing.
Of course the finances that are behind Wrexham are not that of a usual team that rises the ranks from League One to the Championship. They were outdoing some of Ipswich and Leicester's old top-flight competitors in commercial revenue earned while the Red Dragons were in League Two, as per The Athletic.
Still, it shouldn't take away from what this means for the club and where it's going. Now it's up to Kabore, all being well from here with the remaining details of the move, to prove that this was a deal worth making.
