According to Real Madrid Confidencial, Xabi Alonso is preparing to rotate his squad heavily once the international break comes to an end.

One of the biggest surprises could be Kylian Mbappe starting on the bench against Real Sociedad.

The French superstar, who has been central to Madrid’s attack since his arrival, may be given a breather as Alonso looks to protect his players from fatigue and possible injuries.

After the international break, several players often return tired and not at their best physically. Alonso is well aware of this risk and does not want to push his key men too hard in La Liga when bigger challenges lie ahead.

While resting Mbappe may raise eyebrows, the coach wants the forward at full strength for his Champions League clash against Marseille.

Mbappe among key stars set for rest

The match against Sociedad could become the first real test of Alonso’s rotation policy.

Resting Mbappe, even in his current excellent form, shows the manager is focused on the long season ahead rather than short-term results.

Meanwhile, the outlet assures that Mbappe is not the only one who might be spared. Midfield regulars like Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni are also candidates to sit out the clash with Real Sociedad.

Both players have been vital so far, but Alonso wants to ensure they stay fit for the months ahead. This opens the door for others in the squad to step up.

Players like Dani Ceballos, Raul Asencio, David Alaba, and Fran Garcia, who have had little to no playing time, could finally be given their chance to prove themselves.

For Alonso, this rotation policy is not just about rest, but also about testing his squad depth.

Real Madrid will need every player ready to contribute, and the Sociedad game may be the first glimpse of how he plans to manage his resources throughout the campaign.
