According to SPORT, Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has made it clear that he wants the club to consider Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller as a long-term option.

The 24-year-old German has been on Alonso’s radar for some time, and while the move did not happen this summer, the coach is keeping the door open for 2026.

Notably, Los Blancos spent heavily in the transfer window, investing close to €180 million on Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carreras, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, while also securing the highly-rated Franco Mastantuono.

But despite Alonso’s push for a new midfielder, the club decided not to strengthen in that area, believing the squad already had enough depth.

With Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, and Dani Ceballos in midfield, the board felt there was little need for another addition right now.

Even so, Alonso remains unconvinced that the current balance is enough, which is why Stiller continues to be a name he values.

As such, Stuttgart will not part ways with Stiller easily. His contract runs until 2028, and the Bundesliga side sees him as a key figure for the future.

His performances have already caught the attention of several major clubs, including Bayern Munich, who are monitoring him closely.

If Stiller continues his upward trajectory this season, his market value could rise significantly.

That would make it harder for Real Madrid to move for him, especially with Premier League sides also likely to enter the race.

Stuttgart, for their part, know that every strong performance from their midfielder increases his transfer value, and they are prepared to hold firm.

Meanwhile, Alonso wants Stiller, but the timing and the price will decide everything. If his progress continues, the summer of 2026 could be decisive in determining his future.
