Xabi Alonso says his short spell in charge of Real Madrid left a scar, but he considers it healed as he begins life at Chelsea during the club’s tour in Australia.
"I have a scar, but it has healed," he told The Athletic on Sunday, speaking about his time at Real Madrid for the first time.

"Now I am very motivated and determined to approach this new stage with as much enjoyment as when I started in Madrid."
Appointed in summer 2025, the 44-year-old was dismissed in mid-January, a little over seven months into the job.
He has since joined Chelsea and must lift a large squad that will not take part in any European competition this season.
