Real Madrid strung another consecutive win to their great run of form this season as they took home a 4-1 win over Levante on Tuesday night.
The game saw the manager bring in reasonable rotations, especially with the Madrid derby just around the corner. Xabi Alonso’s men, however, dominated the clash from start to finish and made the win comprehensive.
In the end, goals from Kylian Mbappe, Franco Mastantuono, and Vinicius Jr. helped Los Blancos to the three points and continued their momentum ahead of the derby.
Speaking to the media after the game, Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso was full of praise for his side after the win and for the confidence they showed on the night.
“We just finished the match and I was just thinking about today’s performance and where we are going. Starting tomorrow we will think about the derby,” he said.
“It has been a very complete game for the team. Vini has had a decisive performance and has been very important.”
Elaborating on how his team was still growing and developing into his dynamics, the manager said,
“We are in the growth phase, still under construction. We have been 51 days and there is still a long way to go. We are building a solid foundation to be competitive in La Liga, Champions League, and the Copa.”
“In the team many feel connected and important. Some things remain to improve, but the path is good; not only for the results but also for the way of doing things. You have to keep going, you don’t have to stop. This is just the beginning and we want to continue competing well,” he added.
The manager then commented on how it was easy to rotate the squad given the quality on the bench and how the players adapted well to his system.
“Having quality players makes it much easier, who with little training understand the idea and what we want; they are flexible.”

“Not only can they play in one way but in different ways, and even in different positions. Today we thought it was appropriate because some players had to rest, as is the case with Mili and Carva,” he added.
Elaborating on why the duo were rested, the manager said: “After their injuries we didn’t want them to play three games of ninety minutes in a row. All those who have entered, have entered very well.”
“We are going on a good line, we are happy and we have to continue. Now thinking about the derby,” he added.
Alonso was then asked what he expected from Eduardo Camavinga after his return from injury, to which he said,
“You’ve already seen it. He has made a start that has crossed lines; he has taken in the number six position and has ended up in the number ten role, practically finishing in the last line.”
“He is very dynamic, he has many qualities. Since I’ve been here at the club I counted on him, but he wasn’t available and little by little he is coming in. Jude has also been able to play more minutes and that is very important.”
Alonso finally shared his takeaways from the entire game and what he made from the team’s performance.
“We had the opportunity before the break to be able to score the third, and even the fourth. We have had enough chances and the 0-2 is sometimes a deceptive result because it seems that you have a good advantage, but you can go.”
“Obviously, after Levante’s 1-2, the score and the match have been adjusted much more. I don’t know how many minutes passed, they weren’t too many until the 1-3, and Levante couldn’t react too much anymore,” he added.
He finally praised his side for holding on well and not crumbling under the pressure.
“We have controlled the game well, and we have put in the room. It was a serious and complete game. It’s not easy to come here, win and play this way,” he concluded.
