Xelajú rises to first place with victory over Real Estelí | OneFootball

GUATEMALA CITY – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with CSD Xelajú MC earning a 4-1 win against Real Estelí FC in Group D on Thursday at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Yilton Díaz opened the scoring in the 6’ with a right-footed shot in front of goal to capitalize on a fast break opportunity. Jesús López was vital with the assist after helping the play progress down the field to place Xelajú in front.

Carlos Preciado tied the encounter in the 18’ with a right-footed shot from outside the box. Preciado struck off a second chance following a corner kick opportunity for Real Estelí.

Jorge Aparicio struck with power inside the box to place Xelajú back in front in the 55’, capitalizing on a corner kick chance for the hosts.

Pedro Báez extended the Xelajú lead in the 83’ with a right-footed shot from the edge of the box to all but seal the three points.

Elmer Cardoza added a fourth for Xelajú in the 90’+1’ with a left-footed shot from the left side of the box to connect with a through ball from Juan Cardona.

CSD Xelajú MC improved to nine points and moved up to first place in the group. The Guatemalan club will sit idle during the next matchday before concluding the Group Stage at CD Olimpia on August 27.

Real Estelí FC will play at home in its final two encounters as it seeks to avoid elimination. The Nicaraguan side will host CD Hércules next Thursday.
