Yan Diomande has decided on a big-money move to Manchester United this summer. Beyond the midfield, United are expected to recruit a left winger as well.

The problem is that The Manchester Reds are without a natural left winger.

In trying to assemble Ruben Amorim‘s dream team, one that did not depend on wingers, INEOS pushed out United’s natural left wingers without realising it.

That transfer blunder has left the 20-time English champions with no choice but to go out and pull off a signing in that position.

Had they got their way, Bundesliga Rookie of the Year Yan Diomande would have been their man.

Diomande is one of the finest left wingers in Europe’s top five leagues right now.

The 19-year-old is considered incredibly dangerous thanks to his elite one-v-one dribbling, tactical versatility, and goal-scoring efficiency. His pace, strength, and superb close control make him a nightmare for defenders.

Add that to United’s left wing and the Red Devils could boast one of the fiercest attacks in the division.

Unfortunately, however, a move to Old Trafford may not be one to look forward to; the winger has made it clear where he would love to play next season.

Yan Diomande opens up on transfer speculation

Speaking to Kicker, the Ivorian winger was asked whether he would be staying at Leipzig.

He responded, “Yes,” adding, “I’m not thinking about that at the moment. I’m under contract in Leipzig, and I enjoy playing here. But nobody knows what will happen after that. Everyone has ambitions, including me. My dream is to play at the highest level possible.”

Leipzig’s return to Champions League football has surely dealt a further blow to any hopes of prising the teenager away from the Red Bull Arena.

Diomande transfer miss not such a big blow

Perhaps, though, it is for the better that Diomande has made his intentions clear.

United have been spared a prolonged transfer saga over agreeing on a reasonable fee with the Bundesliga side. They have also been spared a fierce battle with the likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich for his signature.

INEOS can now turn their attention to other attainable left winger options, such as Ander Barrenetxea. Then, hopefully, when Diomande is ready to make that step, Manchester United can revisit their interest.
