Manchester United are considering making a statement signing after showing Ruben Amorim the exit door earlier this month.

Amorim spent around £200 million to improve his forward line in the summer. However, the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko could not change United’s fortunes under the Portuguese head coach, who recorded just eight wins in 20 Premier League games this season.

Heading into the January transfer window, United explored the possibility of signing Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. However, Semenyo preferred to play under Pep Guardiola.

After missing out on Semenyo, Manchester United have intensified their interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande

Diomande moved to RB Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes last summer, and he has already established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s best attackers.

The 19-year-old African marries his explosive pace with technical excellence to leave defenders in the dust.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are willing to splash €90 million to secure the services of the Ivory Coast international in January.

However, CaughtOffside claim Leipzig’s valuation sits around €100m. Furthermore, the German outfit plan to only entertain offers for their prized asset in the summer transfer window.

Diomande in negotiations with Manchester United

Despite Leipzig’s reluctance to part ways with Diomande and their astronomical price tag, United remain steadfast in their pursuit.

According to CaughtOffside, United have held talks with the sensational Ivorian over a five‑plus‑one‑year deal worth around €3.5m per season after getting the green light from Leipzig.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are all reported to be “closely monitoring” Diomande’s situation.

Diomande primarily plays on the left wing. It is suggested United would have to move Matheus Cunha, who joined the Red Devils from Wolves in a deal worth €72m, to the centre to accommodate Diomande in the starting lineup.
