Brentford midfielder Yehor Yarmoliuk discusses his long-awaited first goal for the Bees and why he is at the right club to continue his development in The Long Read in Sunday's Nottingham Forest matchday programme.

The 21-year-old Ukrainian also speaks about his relationship with Keith Andrews and representing his country during the ongoing war with Russia.

“It meant a lot to me,” he said, reflecting on netting the third goal in a 3-0 victory against Sunderland at Gtech Community Stadium.

“I was so excited when I got the goal. It took a bit longer than I would have liked, but it was a special moment for me.

“I didn’t expect that the ball would bounce back to me and that I would score from there. I just felt so good in that moment, I didn’t know what to do!

“I had to say something to the boys in the dressing room afterwards. I said, ‘Thank you for helping me to achieve this. I’ll keep working’.”

Yarmoliuk added: “Even if you don’t want to think about it, it’s always in your mind that you haven’t scored.

“So, I was happy to get my first goal, and I can move forward from there now."
