The Eagles are moving quickly to strengthen with the transfer deadline just days away
Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of forward Yeremy Pino from Villarreal.
The 22-year-old Spaniard will serve as a replacement for Eberechi Eze, who left Selhurst Park to join Arsenal last week.
The deal is worth £21.5million plus add-ons. Standard Sport understands Crystal Palace are pleased with the price they negotiated, as the player’s contract reportedly featured a £69m release clause.
Pino, who tallied 45 goal contributions in 175 appearances for the Yellow Submarine, will don Eze’s old No10 shirt on arrival.
Glasner has hinted he could feature as early as Sunday, when Palace visit Aston Villa, should he be registered in time.
“I’m very happy to be here,” said Pino after signing. “It is a dream of mine to come to the Premier League, to a historic club like Crystal Palace, and I hope that I can help the team.”
Crystal Palace are set for a busy 72 hours with the transfer deadline fast approaching. Pino is just their third signing of the summer, and Glasner has made no secret of the fact that he expects more incomings ahead of the club’s debut European campaign.
It was reported earlier today that the club are pushing to sign Jaydee Canvot of Toulouse. The highly-rated 19-year-old centre back only broke into Les Violets’ first team in the second half of last season, going on to make 18 Ligue 1 appearances.
The Eagles are also bracing for Liverpool to make an 11th-hour bid for Marc Guehi in spite of Glasner’s insistence that it is too late in the window to sell a key player.
Speaking after pipping Fredrikstad to qualify for the Conference League group phase, the Austrian said he was frustrated that the club had waited to long to make signings, but was sure they would reinforce where needed.
“We have other guys in the club who are responsible to get the deals done,” he said.
“I know they are really working hard. Of course, if you wait that long, you have long days, late nights to work on [it]. But I'm sure that we will add a few players and they will be the right ones.”
