Newcastle United will reportedly consider selling Yoane Wissa in the summer transfer window.
However, Wissa has made it clear he wants to stay at St James’ Park after arriving in a £55 million deal last summer, per The Athletic.
The 29-year-old has endured a difficult start to life at Newcastle. He missed the first half of the season due to a knee injury and has made only four Premier League starts.
The DR Congo international has scored only once and is currently Eddie Howe’s fourth-choice striker.
Newcastle lost Alexander Isak to Liverpool, despite trying to keep him at the club.
Callum Wilson also followed the Swede out of St James’ Park, joining West Ham United on a free transfer.
Wissa and Nick Woltemade were not the priority targets.
After failed attempts to sign Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Jorgen Strand Larsen, they signed the two forwards.
Wissa and Woltemade have not made the desired impact, as the Magpies are likely to end the season without European qualification.
Woltemade made an explosive start, but his recent form has been poor. He hasn’t scored in the Premier League since bagging a brace against Chelsea in December.
Newcastle are looking to offload Wissa this summer, but they would have to take a significant loss on him.
