Barcelona have come across a lot of misfortune this season with regards to injuries, with many players facing time on the sidelines at one point or the other.
Barça’s injury woes appear to have permeated through their youth ranks as well, with Xavi Espart becoming the latest victim.
According to Diario SPORT, Xavi Espart has been ruled out for at least two months after picking up a fresh injury. Initial examinations indicate the problem is located in his right knee.
The medical staff is being highly cautious before issuing a definitive diagnosis, as there is a serious possibility that a ligament may be affected. The injury is a significant blow not just to the player, but to the club’s strategy for the coming weeks.
The full-back had been enjoying Hansi Flick’s confidence, earning call-ups to the first-team squads in recent matches.

Flick and his staff are very fond of the young player for his strong understanding of the game and the energy he brings to every play.
This injury represents a serious setback for his development, as he was expected to get some vital playing time in the coming weeks.
The club’s plan was for him to be a quality rotation option to give Jules Kounde, who has accumulated heavy minutes, a much-needed rest.
Espart was set to reinforce Barça Atlètic in their highly anticipated reserve team derby tomorrow against Espanyol B, alongside other talented players like Dro, Toni, and Guille Fernández.
His absence forces an unwelcome readjustment of plans for the reserve team and leaves the club with yet another major problem during an already difficult period.
