Celtic FC B returned to winning ways in the UEFA Youth League, following an impressive 3-2 win over RB Leipzig.

A Daniel Cummings brace, and second half finish from Francis Turley saw the Bhoys take home their second victory in the competition.

After losing out so narrowly in the dying minutes against Atalanta on matchday three, the young Hoops were looking to bounce back.

Returning to The City Stadium, the Bhoys faced off against an RB Leipzig who also had three points from their opening three games.

Taking on the German side, it was a competitive outing from the off, with both teams stretching the game and providing an open first few minutes to the match.

Both sides look to create early openings on goal, with RB Leipzig having the first chance. A shot from the edge going just narrowly beyond the post.

One of Celtic’s first openings came through Jude Bonnar, who sent a dangerous looking cross into the box, which was well collected by the goalkeeper.

However, the Hoops didn’t have to wait long for the opener as Cummings scored on the 15th minute mark.

A pinpoint cross on the right-hand side released the striker through on goal. With the goalkeeper quickly closing down, Cummings dinked the ball before finishing into the back of an empty net under pressure.

That goal seemed to give the Celts confidence, and they quickly almost grabbed a quick-fire second.

Working the ball from back-to-front, a pass in behind found the run of Francis Turley, who in turn played the ball into Cummings. But he just couldn’t sort his feet out in time for the finish.

The away side did have some chances of their own, with the biggest threat coming from set plays. On two separate occasions, the defender found himself free at the back post but couldn’t hit the target from close range.

After scoring a double from long range in league action last weekend, Kyle Ure almost found the net from distance once more before the break. But it was well saved

Heading into the second half, the Hoops made the perfect start to the half, grabbing a second just one minute into the action.

Going on the front foot straight from the off, a low cross on the right-hand side appeared to be turned home by Turley, who doubled Celtic’s advantage.

Things got even better for the Celts just beyond the hour mark as Cummings grabbed his second and Celtic’s third of the game.

A well-worked move down the left gave Mitchel Frame space to pick up his head and find the run of Cummings, who expertly slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

With the Bhoys looking to make sure all three points were wrapped up, just two minutes later, RB Leipzig were aiming to get themselves back in the game, pulling a goal back to make the score 3-1.

It made for a nervy finish at The City Stadium as the German side pulled a further goal back as the game entered stoppage time.

However, the Celts didn’t let their lead slip as they held out to secure an important three points in the UEFA Youth League.

It was an impressive performance and result from the young Celtic side, who bounced back in style from the disappointment last time out against Atalanta.

Next up in the competition, the Hoops have another home game to look forward to as they welcome Club Brugge to the City Stadium later this month.

CELTIC: Rice, Donovan, Robertson, Agbaire, Frame, Ure, Bonnar, Turley, McArdle (Isiguzo 70), Dede (Pickford 82), Cummings (Dargie 82).
