Yuri Alberto suffers left thigh pain, carried off, worrying Corinthians | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Yuri Alberto gave Corinthians a fresh injury concern on Sunday night after suffering left thigh pain at São Bernardo.

A regular starter, Yuri Alberto began on the bench and replaced Gui Negão after the interval. He was on the pitch for about 25 minutes before the injury.

The incident came at 40 minutes of the second half as the centre-forward chased a ball, felt pain in the back of his left thigh, passed to a team-mate, then went to ground and called for treatment. He left the pitch at Primeiro de Maio with staff assistance.

In tears, he was carried to the dressing room by forward Vitinho and physiotherapist Amil Henrique. The club will put him through a series of tests on Monday to determine the severity.

Head coach Dorival Júnior said they had only an initial briefing from the doctor but he was certain it was a posterior thigh injury. He said they would lose Yuri again at an important stage and stressed the need for more options to maintain the team’s development and natural rotation.

In ABC Paulista, Corinthians beat São Bernardo 1-0 to clinch a quarter-final place. They will face Portuguesa in a single-leg tie at Canindé.
