Real Zaragoza and CD Castellón played out a 0-0 draw at Ibercaja Estadio in LaLiga Hypermotion’s matchday 23. The hosts kept a clean sheet despite finishing with 10 after Marcos Cuenca was sent off in the 90th minute.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, second-placed Castellón could not impose their quality and dominance on an obdurate Zaragoza. The ground had seen only two home wins all season, and the hosts were desperate to add points to climb out of the relegation places.
It unfolded in bleak conditions, with strong wind, rain and cold. The report said referee Eder Mallo made calls that went against the visitors, citing a disallowed Fabrizio Brignani goal, a penalty shout for Beñat Gerenabarrena not given and Dani Tasende avoiding a first-half red card.
The report’s ratings named Mabil the standout with seven, the winger most incisive before being withdrawn.
Among the starters, Mellot, Brignani, Sienra, Gerenabarrena, Cipenga and Cala were all given sevens. Lucas Alcázar and Diego Barri were marked at six, while Matthys and Jakobsen received five.
From the bench, Raúl Sánchez earned six on his re-debut. Camara was given five, with De Nipoti and Suero both on six.
