Zé Rafael has suffered a right thigh oedema and will miss Santos’ match at Mirassol on Tuesday 10, 21:30, at José Maria de Campos Maia, in the fifth round of the Brasileirão. According to Diario Do Peixe, the midfielder felt pain in the semimembranosus before scans confirmed the issue.

Neymar Jr, the attacking midfielder, is also unavailable due to load management. The rest of the squad is expected to travel, with the away game marking Santos’ return after almost 12 days without a fixture, their last outing a win over Vasco on 26 February at Vila Belmiro.

Earlier this year Zé Rafael missed time with patellar tendinitis in his left knee, and conjunctivitis ruled him out of the season opener. He has begun physiotherapy and there is no return timetable.

In 2026 he has featured in five of the nine Paulistão matches.

He has also played three of the four Brasileirão fixtures so far, providing an assist against Chapecoense and scoring against São Paulo. He joined Santos last year and earned a starting berth after months recovering from spinal surgery. He ended that season with one Copa do Brasil outing and one goal in 27 league appearances.
