Zeki Amdouni has returned to the pitch 231 days after cruciate ligament surgery, the Swiss forward having spent last season on loan at Benfica from Burnley.
According to Glorioso 1904, the 25-year-old announced on Instagram on Thursday, 12 March that he is back, crediting hard work, patience and belief during his recovery.
Former Benfica team-mates Manu Silva, Schjelderup, Leandro Barreiro and Kokçu, now at Besiktas, posted messages of support.
Amdouni left Benfica shortly before the Club World Cup, then suffered the ligament rupture days later. Benfica considered keeping him but did not activate an 18 million euros option to buy.
In 2024/25 he was selected by Bruno Lage in 43 matches, 11 in the Champions League, 24 in the league, six in the Taça de Portugal and two in the Taça da Liga. Across 1,372 minutes he scored nine goals and supplied two assists.
