Zico to join ESPN and Disney+ World Cup coverage

Zico has been lined up to join ESPN and Disney+ for World Cup coverage, joining the broadcaster’s on-air team.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the Flamengo great will provide special analysis throughout the tournament, with a focus on Brazil’s games, appearing from his home in Rio de Janeiro.
It will be his first stint as on-air talent for ESPN, strengthening the line-up assembled for the sport’s showpiece.
ESPN will mount extensive coverage with 15 on-site talents across Mexico, the United States and Canada, plus a digital operation on social channels and YouTube.
Daily editions of “Fala a Fonte” will be produced in the United States, capturing the tournament mood and key figures.
“Futebol no Mundo” will also run daily from ESPN’s São Paulo studio, while “Linha de Passe” returns with special editions on the World Cup’s major talking points.
Zico, Flamengo’s greatest icon, was the standout figure in Brazil’s 1982 and 1986 sides, renowned for attacking, technical football, and featured at four World Cups, 1978, 1982 and 1986 as a player, then on Japan’s staff in 2006.
