Foot Africa has established that Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has decided to host their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier clash against Bafana Bafana in South Africa.

This comes after reports emerged earlier this week that the Warriors are set to ditch South African venues for the crucial match scheduled for Monday, 06 October.

The Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown, Botswana, was reportedly earmarked as a potential alternative venue for the encounter.

Interestingly, Zimbabwe have hosted their last four home matches of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and ongoing World Cup qualifiers in Mzansi.

Now, a well-placed source close to the matter has informed this publication that ZIFA executives reached an agreement to host Bafana on South African soil.

Orlando Stadium is understood to be the frontrunner to host the match, while the renowned Moses Mabhida Stadium and the Peter Mokaba venue are also in contention.

Meanwhile, with four points accumulated from eight matches, Zimbabwe are at the basement of Group C, having failed to register a win thus far.

On the other hand, Bafana are in pole position to book a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they currently sit atop Group C with 17 points amassed.
