The Algerian Football Federation confirmed that Luca Zidane, son of the legendary French player Zinédine Zidane, is eligible to represent the Algerian national team.
The goalkeeper was officially sanctioned by FIFA, appearing in the database associated with the flag of Algeria instead of France meaning that, he is now available for the next call-up, which is scheduled for next month.
At 27, he has previously played for France's youth teams on 14 occasions, having represented the country in the Under-17 World Cup and European Championship.
The Zidane family now gains a new connection to the African country, as the goalkeeper's paternal grandparents were born and raised on Algerian soil.
Luca Zidane is currently plying his trade with Spanish second tier side Granada, having previously represented Eibar, Rayo Vallecano, and making one appearance for Real Madrid.
