Spain continued preparations at Las Rozas on Wednesday, one day before travelling to Villarreal to face Serbia on Friday, with Borja Iglesias and Martín Zubimendi speaking at Movistar’s sponsorship launch.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, both players welcomed the partnership, highlighting support for all national teams. Zubimendi, now living in London, noted that technology keeps him connected to Spanish football, films and series.

Having started recent games in Rodri’s injury absence, Zubimendi said he believes they could play together, even if Spain rarely use two out-and-out holding midfielders, adding that lining up alongside the Manchester City midfielder would be straightforward.

On the call-up of four goalkeepers, including Joan García, the pair downplayed any issue. They framed it as healthy competition and suggested any fuss comes from outside, while the squad stay focused on shared objectives.

Iglesias said he is very happy and dreams of making the World Cup, stressing he feels comfortable in any role. He called comparisons with Fernando Llorente an honour, and added that simply being there would matter more than who scores in a final.

Both admitted World Cup talk has increased in this camp, with the next meet-up set to be at the tournament, and underlined the group’s close-knit support. Zubimendi also observed English sides led earlier in the Champions League and Spanish teams now, but with ties remaining he would not judge, saying the aim is to win and he hopes his team can.
