Bayern have won 3-1 against Chelsea in their opening game of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign! Bayern captain Manuel Neuer has also collected his 100th win in the competition in the process - only Thomas Müller, Cristiano Ronaldo and Iker Casillas have done that before him.

Here are his thoughts right after the victory:

“Such a result is, of course, very nice - especially against a good team like Chelsea, who won the Club World Cup two months ago.”

“It's great to see us use our momentum, we want to build on that and ride this wave for as long as possible. If you're playing for Bayern Munich, you want to win every game there is - that's why winning the Champions League is also a goal of ours, even if it's further in our future.”

“Our first goal is to get into the top 8 of the Champions League before the play-offs - something we didn't manage to do last year. From then, we can look more into the future.”

“We also want to continue growing as a team, which we have done in the past few weeks, but also in the past year.”

“We made a few mistaked before we conceded, that's something we can work on. We played against a team from the Premier League, who were ready to defend deep if necessary. We knew we had to fight in order to win, but I think we were also just cooler and better on the ball tonight.”

“Winning 100 [Champions League] games is nice, but it's even nicer and more important to me to win with my teammates.”
