Liverpool have got a contract problem to resolve with Luis Diaz. The 28-year-old remains under contract at Liverpool until 2027 but is reportedly unhappy over the terms of his current deal.

He signed for the Reds back in January 2022 from Porto - and remains on the same contract he signed back then. That deal is reportedly worth around £55k per week - a far cry from the likes of Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and even Federico Chiesa.

But club bosses including Richard Hughes - the sporting director - are not currently minded to give Diaz a renewal on the terms he’s after.

The Colombian international scored 13 goals as Liverpool won the Premier League last season - coming in clutch at left-wing and also as a makeshift No9.

Liverpool's 'disrespect' pushes Diaz to the exit

Now it’s being reported on Antena2 that the winger is feeling “disrespected” by Liverpool’s conduct and is pushing to get out of Anfield as quickly as possible.

“After the renewal offers, the Guajiro player believes the Reds' management has shown him disrespect,” the report reads.

“The Colombian believes he should have a salary and terms commensurate with his influence on the team.

“This stance has not gone down well with the squad under Arne Slot. The club wants to retain the Colombian without making a major financial effort.

“The player continues training under the new manager, but with the firm intention of changing clubs before the transfer window closes.”

Who can afford €100m Diaz?

Barcelona are thought to be Diaz’s favourite destination but a deal doesn’t appear likely for various reasons. The next most likely candidates for Diaz’s signature - in Europe at least - are Bayern Munich.

They have made one bid to Liverpool already for Diaz but it was immediately knocked back as being insufficient. Liverpool are thought to be holding out for €100m for Diaz, who has also got suitors in Saudi Arabia.
