FC Bayern are on course for a historic season in the Bundesliga. After another thumping victory, the magic mark of 101 goals is getting ever closer – but Vincent Kompany has clear priorities
After a commanding 4-0 win against Union Berlin, the Munich side have already scored an impressive 97 goals after 27 matchdays, bringing the old Bundesliga record from the 1971/72 season, also set by FC Bayern, within touching distance
Despite the impressive figures, coach Vincent Kompany was not interested in any record-breaking euphoria after the game. The Belgian made it clear that other things are more important to him. „I’m not someone who wants to talk about records like that. I’m not particularly interested in that. I think we will break this record, but I have other priorities,“ explained the 39-year-old
For Kompany, his team’s style of play is the most important thing. Bayern should consistently bring their strengths to the pitch, regardless of the opponent – that is the key to sustainable success
The numbers speak for themselves: hardly any other team in Europe is currently as consistent and efficient in attack as FC Bayern
Serge Gnabry, who scored a brace against Union, was also impressed: „The fact that we’ve already scored 97 goals is really incredible. It just shows how strong our attack is.“
In fact, the attack is not only impressive due to individual gala performances, but above all due to its consistency. Munich create a large number of top-class chances in almost every game – regardless of the opponent
The approaching record automatically draws attention to international records: Real Madrid scored a total of 121 goals in La Liga in the 2011/12 season – a figure that is regarded as a benchmark
Converted to the Bundesliga with 34 match days, this corresponds to around 108 goals. With seven games still to go, even this mark does not seem completely out of reach

In parallel to the team’s performance, several individual records are also in the offing. Michael Olise is currently on course for the Bundesliga assist record with 19 assists, while Harry Kane has his sights set on Robert Lewandowski’s legendary 41-goal mark with 31 goals
However, regardless of the numbers and records, the direction remains clear: FC Bayern want to maintain their form – and confirm it on the international stage in the decisive phase of the season
The records could fall almost incidentally.
