A clear change is taking place at FC Bayern under Vincent Kompany. The focus is increasingly on the club’s own youth – and the figures provide impressive proof of how consistently this approach is being pursued

With players such as Lennart Karl, Wisdom Mike and Maycon Cardozo, more and more talents from the campus are taking center stage. Since taking office, Kompany has already given a whole series of young players their professional debut – a clear signal of the new direction at Säbener Straße

The list of debutants is long: in addition to Karl and Cardozo, Filip Pavic, Cassiano Kiala, Jonah Kusi-Asare, Adam Aznou, Felipe Chavez, David Santos Daiber and Deniz Ofli, among others, made their first appearances. This trend continued against Union Berlin, when Yusuf Kabadayi Osmani was the next youngster to make his first appearance for the professionals

A decisive factor in this development lies in the squad planning. After a difficult summer of transfers, those responsible made a conscious decision to keep the squad lean. Instead of relying on additional veterans, space was specifically created for young players

Prominent examples show that this path can work: Jamal Musiala and Aleksandar Pavlovic have long since made the leap from the youth ranks and are now permanent fixtures in the team

Maycon Cardozo is also a prime example of this development. The 17-year-old recently made his Bundesliga debut and has worked hard to achieve this step. He came to the campus via the FC Bayern World Squad project and has steadily played his way up the ranks

Max Eberl was delighted with this development: „You can see from the young players that work pays off. Maycon Cardozo has been training regularly for some time, is gaining confidence and has now been given his chance.“

For the sporting director, the path taken is more than just a short-term solution: „When players from our own young talent make the leap, it’s a great story for FC Bayern.“

The message is clear: the campus is once again a central part of Bayern’s DNA. And under Vincent Kompany, this path not only seems to be desired, but also successfully implemented.
