Ousmane Dembélé’s hat-trick in France’s 4-1 win over Norway delivered a huge TV audience for M6 on Friday night.

L'Équipe reports that an average of 13.68 million people watched the free-to-air broadcast on M6, a 62.1% audience share, by far the night’s biggest.

Played in Boston, the victory sealed top spot in Group I and completed a third straight win for Didier Deschamps’s side.

beIN Sports, which is broadcasting the entire competition, had yet to release its audience figures. The second most watched programme on Friday was a repeat of Capitaine Marleau on France 2, 1.66 million viewers and a 7.5% share.

France’s previous game, a 3-0 win over Iraq in the early hours of Tuesday, drew 4.9 million on M6 with a 63.1% share, despite finishing at 2.48am.

Their tournament opener on Tuesday 16 June against Senegal, a 3-1 win in prime time, attracted nearly 14 million on M6, a 61.4% share, plus 640,000 on beIN Sports.

France face Sweden in the round of 32 on Tuesday night at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The match will be on M6 and beIN Sports, kick-off 23.00.
